Explore our approach

An evidence-backed framework – Access a structured, evidence-based framework built around what actually works.

What we work with – Stress management needs to cover work and the rest of life too. Sleep. Nervous system regulation. Body awareness. Emotional regulation. Boundaries. Mindsets. Parts Work. Systemic Constellations. We work across all of it, because these things don’t exist in isolation.

How we work – We start with connection, co regulation and building trust and a sense of safety. This is done in person, in real life at mutually agreed places across London, We do a review and assessment using a clear framework that informs a plan. We use a mix of education, mentoring and coaching and the some of the best elements of other burnout and stress recovery programmes.

Our mindful movement sessions draw on qi gong, mindful walking and interoceptive body scan practices. Qi gong uses slow, flowing movements to calm the nervous system and build energy. Mindful walking brings focused attention to the body in motion. Body scans develop interoception — the ability to notice and respond to internal physical signals — a key skill for stress recovery and prevention. Suitable for all fitness levels, no prior experience needed.

Introducing the Founder of Tending Fires

Rich Wells

Tending Fires was founded with a simple belief: that the people who serve our communities deserve the same care and attention they give to others.

For the past 35 years I’ve worked professionally with people across the charity, public and private sector. I’ve experienced first hand the increased work and life demands on NHS, Public Sector, Teachers and Charity Workers.

I created Tending Fires as a way of bringing together key elements of what I have experienced, studied and practiced over many years. It is based on some key principles such as starting where people are at, learning by doing, using nature and the outdoors as a regulator and educator, working with the body, the mind and engaging both the will and soul. Its all backed by some serious accredited learning at The University of London, Middlesex University, The Institute of Leadership and Management and training and mentoring from the best Burnout Coach in the UK.

In our complex and uncertain world my mission is to help good people work towards greater wholeness and social change. Let me know if you want to explore working together on achieving that.
